Where Recovery Meets Renewal: Helping Minnesotans Heal for 35 Years

For more than 35 years, Mn Adult & Teen Challenge (MnTC) has helped Minnesotans break free from alcohol, drug, and other life-controlling addictions by addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs behind them. With a compassionate, evidence-based approach and a network of programs across the state, MnTC provides hope, healing, and lifelong transformation to thousands each year.

Serving more than 4,000 clients statewide in 2024 alone, MnTC offers a full continuum of care—from residential and outpatient treatment to aftercare and transitional services. Residential programs include 90-day and 12-month trauma-informed treatment options, with faith-based programming available for those who choose it. Outpatient and telehealth services make recovery more accessible, while specialized mental health counseling addresses co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Through aftercare programs, clients receive ongoing support with transitional housing, leadership training, and continued community connection.

“I used substances to fill a void. I was depressed and never really took care of myself. I had been to a few treatment centers, but I wasn’t really trying to get better. After two months in this program, my dad came to visit, and he said he could tell this place was making a difference. He said I looked happy. That was so special to me.”

With centers located in Minneapolis, Mankato, Brainerd, Alexandria, Duluth, Rochester, and Buffalo, MnTC ensures that people across Minnesota can find the help they need close to home. Volunteers and donors are vital to this mission—whether mentoring clients, supporting statewide events, or contributing financial gifts that fund critical programs, every act of generosity helps restore lives and strengthen families.

This statewide approach reflects a deep belief in shared progress and the power of local vision to shape a stronger future.

The numbers tell a powerful story: Since its founding, the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, together with its fundholders and partners, has granted more than $2.3 billion to communities for public good. Today, it manages $1.9 billion in charitable assets and facilitates over 9,000 grants each year—and has reached every Minnesota county, all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
