Kailen Rosenberg is the CEO and founder of elite matchmaking firm the Love Architects, a masters-certified life coach, and a published author. During her 22 years as a life coach and matchmaker, the 48-year-old former model has become the go-to expert for relationship advice to an A-List roster of clients, even acting as Oprah Winfrey’s “love ambassador” on the 2012 Oprah Winfrey Network docu-series Lovetown, USA

She also has trouble working her high-tech coffeemaker.

“It’s so funny—I fix people’s love lives, but I can’t fix a coffeemaker,” she laughs.

The Love Architects stands out from other matchmaking and online dating services thanks to Rosenberg’s unique take on relationships. “It’s not just about what you want or who you’re looking for,” she says. “I’m going to find out who you are, and I can’t do that on paper. Where did you go to school, what do you do, how many kids do you have, what do you like to do for fun—none of that has anything to do with a genuinely loving connection and relationship.”

Rosenberg is open and approachable, gamely recounting anecdotes from her time working on the OWN docu-series—“She’s more warm than I would have ever expected,” she says of Winfrey—and openly relates her own relationship struggles.

Her cozy Minnetonka home has a lived-in feel that matches her easy-going demeanor. Decorative pieces such as an end table crafted from tree branches, woven-branch table mats, and carved-wood fish lend a rustic, north-woods touch to her elegant, modern home, while her collection of eclectic artwork, such as a carved Hindu bust, gives it a hint of a global vibe.

Likewise, her personal style is laidback yet polished. On a typical day, she’s likely to wear the type of outfit that can take her from a meeting with a client to a media interview—a luxe, loose-fitting blouse by Rebecca Taylor paired with a tailored Theory jacket, skinny jeans from Hudson or J Brand, a pair of Gucci knee-high-heeled boots.

On Valentine’s Day, the Love Architects launches a global love registry app that features A-list clients from around the world who Rosenberg and her staff have vetted. Her company also recently debuted the Lodge, a “rugged, up-north-styled” private space at the Calhoun Beach Club designed to host mixers and marriage seminars that create a positive and fun environment for singles and couples alike.

Up next, she just signed a “major deal” with a “big production company” for a docu-series to debut later this year. She’s mum on the details, except that it will focus on bringing romance and joy into everybody’s lives. Now that’s what we call spreading the love.

On her beauty routine
“I love my color and cut team, Mae and Alex, at Juut in Edina,” she says. She turns to Kiehl’s and Bio-Oil to moisturize her face and décolletage, anything by Prada or Creed for perfume, and scents such as vanilla or sandalwood for body cream. “I have a perfume and lotion that matches every mood and outfit,” she says.

On her go-to brands
Rosenberg’s favorite brands range from high-end (Miu Miu, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Prada), to the contemporary (Alice + Olivia, J Brand, Hudson, Theory, Rebecca Taylor, and BCBGMAXAZRIA), to the classic (Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and Burberry).

On what not to wear
“I’m pretty modest,” she says. “You won’t catch me in anything that shows much skin, and I’m not into wearing leggings as pants.”
