It’s not just food that ups its game each year. Minnesota makers work all year to produce goods for the Great Minnesota Get-Together. I have included my picks for fair favorites and a few making their debut (*).

Adam Turman

It’s not a trip to the State Fair without a visit to the world of Adam Turman. Adam’s signature style can be seen on murals throughout the Midwest. His take on fair favorites, local landmarks, icons, and this place we call home reminds us that life should be lived in bold color. His fair collection is the perfect keepsake for the memories we hold so dear to the fair.

Bailey Builds*

Bailey Builds debuts distinctive wood creations at the fair. Anna and Nathanael Bailey craft distinct pieces of wood art from reclaimed wood in their Duluth woodshop that happens to be in a former funeral parlor. I previously wrote about Bailey Builds for Midwest Home in 2018, noting that the pieces they create have a modern feel with a weathered wisdom and charm that only time can bring out. The sharp lines and variegated textures produce one-of-a-kind pieces. Anna’s eye for beauty in the discarded has defined the style of all that they do.
