I find my happiness where the sun shines. With summer comes great responsibility, at least when it comes to your sunscreen protection. Hopefully, a daily use of sunscreen is already part of your beauty routine, but if it’s not, I’m here to save you (or at least try to help)!
Applying SPF helps prevent sunburns, damage, and premature wrinkles. I don’t know about you, but I have had my fair share of sunburns in my life, and they have not been pleasant. Being the pale Minnesotan gal that I am, I have learned my lesson: Always protect the skin. Here are some of my top recommendations when it comes to all things fun in the sun.
Sunscreens
EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46: As someone who has had acne her entire life (joys!), I was always hesitant about sunscreens clogging my pores. If you have acne-prone skin, I recommend that you try to steer clear from any generic pharmacy brands. This one, on the other hand, won’t make you break out.
Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Mineral Defense Titanium Dioxide Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50+: This is a great mineral sunscreen, and it has a higher SPF, which my pale skin needs. Its universal tint lends itself to any skin tone, and it definitely disappears into the skin.
Lip Balm
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15: Don’t forget to protect those lips! If you’re searching for the perfect lip balm that will add both color and protect you from the sunshine, this is it. This product has SPF 15 and locks in moisture and contains ingredients such as grapeseed oil, vitamins C and E, and more to help smooth and soften lips. The product is a little bit more on the pricier side ($24), but you have more than 13 colors to pick from and they all smell like citrus.
Foundation with Sunscreen
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+: As a reminder, you should be wearing sunscreen daily, no matter if it’s summer or winter. Luckily, products like this exist in the world. This award-winning foundation is one of my favorite foundations with a high level of SPF in it, and it acts as a color correcting cream infused with peptides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and vitamins, and more. Apply it either with a brush or sponge for an instant complexion savior.
After Sun Skincare
KORRES After Sun Greek Yoghurt Cooling Gel for Face and Body: You might get a little too much sun, and that’s where after care comes into play. I love this one because who doesn’t love Greek yoghurt? It might taste delicious, but it also helps soothe and hydrate the skin, too.
