Festival Shopping

We all know the State Fair’s iconic giant slide, Miracle of Life barn, and line-up of new foods … but save some money for the shopping. The International Bazaar is always a favorite, but in the midst of all the activities at spots like the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum, Grandstand, and Creative Activities Annex are endless shops. Swing by other areas like the West End Market, North End (which highlights Minnesota-based specialty merchants), and Merchandise Mart. As for the other festival going on right now—the Renaissance Festival—while it has more specialized shopping, there’s definitely shopping to be had for jewelry, costume/period clothing, ceramics, leatherwork, and more. Through Labor Day @ State Fair Grounds, St. Paul, mnstatefair.org; through Sept. 29 @ 12364 Chestnut Blvd., Shakopee, renaissancefest.com.

End of Summer Sales

While you probably won’t find some of the best sales unless you go to the malls yourself, here’s a head start on where you might want to go courtesy of Finder, I’m Bringing Blogging Back, and Offers.com. For a longer amount of time—Sept. 15—at the Mall of America, there are more than 80 back-to-school deals at stores like Asics, Athleta, Guess, H&M, Kendra Scott, Macy’s, Sigma Beauty, Sota Clothing, and Vera Bradley, as well as entertainment and food spots.
