Need something to give your wardrobe pizzazz? Don’t go new. Go vintage and consignment. The curated pieces are chosen for their timelessness and aesthetic, so exploring a new look is easy. Try on a piece that champions Minnesota fashion, embodies your favorite decade, or simply supports sustainable shopping.

The Fitting Room

Explore Minnesota fashion history with the Local Archives, a curated vintage collection in Kimberly Jurek-Valanzasca’s boutique. Local designers and makers create each piece, so make sure to look at the tags to learn more about the garment’s story. 316 W 38th St., Minneapolis, 612-345-7391, thefittingroommpls.com.

GH2

Find your new look among outlet and designer resale pieces. This isn’t vintage, but this is consignment at its best—it’s not too surprising, either, since the store also acts as an outlet for boutiques like Grethen House. Shop contemporary designers like Comme des Garcons, MM6, Miu Miu, Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Theory, and Valentino. 318 E Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, 612-378-0509, shopgh2.com.

Golden Pearl Vintage

Part finery, part funky, the selection at the Golden Pearl Vintage spans the 1920s to the 1990s. Underneath the art deco chandelier, shop the high end finds for the every day or for your next special occasion. As a special service, the staff can mend and alter your vintage treasures. 507A E Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, 612-378-3978, goldenpearlvintage.wixsite.com/goldenpearlvintage.

Menswear Market

What started as an online consignment store expanded into a brick-and-mortar experience. Menswear Market sells consignment apparel, accessories, and vintage finds from brands like Armani, Hermes, Versace, and Ralph Lauren. (For a luxury resale spot that includes women’s clothing as well, check out Fashion Avenue in Wayzata and Edina.) 3730 Chicago Ave., Suite C, Minneapolis, 612-910-1261, menswear-market.com.

Scout & Moth Oddities

Now found at Scout in St. Paul, Moth Oddities is made up of the items that founders and partners Yana Pietras and Ian O’Neill discover while traveling the world. Find goodies like your new (old) favorite band shirt and aviator sunglasses. (While Moth Oddities sells women’s clothes as well, the items at Scout are catered toward men.) 326 Seventh St. W, St. Paul, 651-493-8276, scoutstyleshop.com; mothoddities.com.

Via’s Vintage

While Via’s Vintage Wear chooses vintage items from the 1800s to the 1980s, its sweet spot is from the roaring ‘20s to the ‘70s. The store centers on women’s clothing, and you will find plenty of elegant dresses, breezy knee-length skirts, blouses, and jewelry, plus men’s stylish suit jackets, ties, and more. (If you’re on the St. Paul side of the river, consider checking out Lula Vintage.) 2408 Hennepin Ave. S, Minneapolis, 612-374-3649, viasvintage.com.
