You bought the art. Now what? Aesthetic editor Jerrod Sumner stopped by Fox 9 Good Day to show off a few local artists and give gallery-wall tips.

Fox 9 Good Day

What do you do with all the art you bought at summer art fairs? Consider a gallery wall to show off your art and personality. Our aesthetic editor Jerrod Sumner stopped by Fox 9 Good Day to show off a few local artists and give his tips for the perfect gallery wall.

Jerrod’s Tips

  • Start with a cohesive color palette and theme. Choose the things that you love that complement the space you are creating.
  • Mix up your frames. Consider different colors, textures, or no frame at all.
  • Mingle horizontals and verticals. A balance of both makes it more interesting.
  • Find a balance of art mediums, including paintings, fiber art, pottery, living greenery, and photography.
  • Start with your biggest piece to anchor the gallery wall. Think “large and in charge” to set the theme.
  • Make a mini grid within the gallery wall to assist with balance.
  • And finally, make it personal. Not everything has to be “artsy.” Feature a handwritten note, concert tickets, and more that have meaning to you. There’s a story there to share.
