Where Jay Leno failed, PowderKeg! Live aims to blow up big

Variety shows are as old as vaudeville (and the jokes usually are, too). But you’ve never seen one like PowderKeg! Live, the new theatrical concoction from the clever minds behind The Current’s late indie-hit Electric Arc Radio. Performed April 3 and every month at the Ritz Theater (ritzdolls.com), it’s filled with skits, storytelling, trivia sessions, and live music. And there’s something of a plot, starring Geoff Herbach and Stephanie Ash as domestic partners raising a family in their artsy community while some of the coolest creative types in town are forever dropping in—much like their real lives. Here’s a peek at the hipster credentials behind the show.
