1. Super Bowl Sunday Chili Cook-Off 

Sunday, February 3, starting at 1 p.m.

Town Hall Brewery, 1430 S. Washington Ave., Minneapolis

This chili cook-off has become an annual Super Bowl tradition at the brewery. Prizes are awarded for first-, second-, and third-place winners, with people’s choice. It’s $10 per person for all the chili you can eat, plus a pint of beer. Learn more.

2. Doggie Depot

Saturday, February 2, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Union Depot, St. Paul

Canine King Boreas and Canine Queen of Snows are crowned at this year’s big dog expo in Union Depot, featuring rescue pups up for adoption, plus pooch-friendly activities and 30 pet product vendors set up in a marketplace. Bring your dog; Katie K-9 Obedience School will be available to answer questions about your pets. Learn more.

3. The Great Northern

Minneapolis and St. Paul

This is the final weekend of the 10-day festival celebrating all things bold and north. Head to the Fairgrounds in St. Paul to check out the Vulcan Snow Park giant slide and the snow sculptures. Then, on Saturday night, the City of Lakes Loppet takes place at Theodore Wirth Park, along with the Luminary Loppet on Lake of the Isles. That night, the annual Vulcan Victory Parade courses through St. Paul. Learn more.

4. Metro Dealers RV Super Show

U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis

The unforgiving temps make this feel like the perfect week to look ahead to a summer spent exploring in an RV. There will be hundreds of RVs and RV accessories on display downtown this weekend, in a super show put on by the RV Dealers Association. Learn more.

5. Sleigh & Cutter Festival

Event runs through February 24

Waseca, MN 

This horse show features more than 15 days of activities and parades happening through out the southern town of Waseca—including tournaments, a family snowmobile ride, a parade, ice sculpting, a fat tire bike race, ATV rides, and much more. Learn more.

6. The Minnesota Opera Presents Italian Straw Hat

Show runs through Sunday, February 3

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, 345 Washington St., St. Paul

An operatic comedy about a groom jetting around Paris in search of a straw hat, all because the one he was to wear at his wedding was devoured by his horse. The composer of the score for the comedy, Nino Rota, is best known for his work on the film score for The Godfather. Learn more.
