CETA Tours, a small, woman-owned and staffed tour operator in Menomonie, Wisconsin, invites you to join its Insider’s Argentina tour February 27-March 12, 2020. This carefully designed, very inclusive itinerary immerses you in the history, culture, and cuisine of Argentina.
The tour is personally escorted from Minneapolis by Kristen Billingsley, owner of CETA Tours. Billingsley has worked in the travel industry organizing, leading, and escorting tours abroad for more than 20 years. She has teamed up with Bill Barrick, an avid traveler who was so captured by Argentina in his first visit over 10 years ago, that he made it his second home. When stateside, he runs Irish Hollow, a boutique resort in the Galena, IL countryside. Barrick has led and escorted trips for CETA Tours and will share his passion for Argentina as the group’s tour guide.
Barrick, Billingsley, and CETA’s tour coordinator, Ellie Verdon worked together to research and design an itinerary that immerses the traveler in the best Argentina has to offer. The tour is unique in that it allows for a richer, more in-depth look at Argentina than most other tours. The main base is in two different areas of Buenos Aires with a multi-night stay in Mendoza in between. Barrick inspected and recommended carefully selected hotels located in the heart of Palermo and San Telmo, both well-known, vibrant neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Both locations are ideal for enabling travelers to do some sightseeing and dining near the hotel.
CETA’s tour guides and other local guides share their expertise on visits to the most important sights and neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and Mendoza. In addition to scheduled sightseeing, leisure time has been thoughtfully scheduled on days when museums and the best outdoor markets are open to further enhance the pursuit of individual interests. In addition to multiple guided tours in Buenos Aires and Mendoza, full-day excursions include a visit to a typical Gaucho town; Argentina Polo Day—a countryside visit to learn about, try, and experience this Argentinian pastime; a scenic trip with a stop for lunch at a spa in the Andres Mountains; and a Buquebus (Water Taxi) across the Río Plata for a day in Colonia Uruguay.
Culinary experiences are designed to highlight the local cuisine. Many of the restaurants have been hand-picked by Barrick. Dining includes a meal at The Argentine Experience, which serves as an introduction to Argentine foods and culture. A typical gaucho dinner, a multi-course lunch and wine-tasting in Mendoza, and a private dinner with live music and tango lessons are other included culinary highlights.
An Insider’s Argentina includes airfare out of Minneapolis, double room accommodations, two meals daily, all sight-seeing excursions and tips for all included services, such as those for the tour guide and driver. If Argentina is not your glass of wine, CETA Tours is offering a summer tour to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland that includes the Passion Play, and a fall trip to the Enchanted Emerald Isle.
