If your Instagram feed is filled with images of delicious food, cute boutique finds, and stylish manicures, then you need to bring your smartphone and your girlfriends to Edina. Just outside of Minneapolis, Edina is considered one of the best places in the Twin Cities for a quick getaway or staycation, with a diverse collection of upscale retail stores, entertainment venues, and various restaurants to satisfy your cravings.
A perfect introduction to Edina’s style community is the city’s signature fashion event, Style Edina. For the last three years, Explore Edina has partnered with the city’s three major retail entities to create a collaborative and community-focused event that continues to draw rave reviews—and it’s back for the fourth year on April 13 from 10a.m.-1p.m. at Westin Edina Galleria.
The event features brunch and mimosas, a fashion show, and pop-up shops including charming boutiques from 50th & France, big-name brands from Southdale Center, and upscale home and shopping from Galleria Edina.
“The spirit of Style Edina is cooperative,” says Shelly Loberg, director at Explore Edina. “Our major shopping areas work together with Explore Edina to promote and celebrate our retail community. It’s a fun, one-of-a-kind fashion event that’s suitable for moms, daughters, grandmas, and your girlfriends.”
Local Talent Leads the Show
For the fourth year, Jodi Mayers, owner of Jodi Mayers & Style Partners, will host the event as a co-emcee. Joining her on stage this year is Madeline Nachbar, trend and style editor for Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine. Nachbar’s perspective and passion for fashion will bring a fresh twist to this year’s event.
What makes Style Edina’s fashion show so unique is the helpful narration that guests can take away and implement into their own wardrobes. “On top of being fun, this show is approachable and informative, giving attendees tidbits of information they can apply to their own closets or while shopping,” says Mayers. “We’re showcasing the best of Edina retailers and where to find the hottest new items for spring.”
Style and Purpose
When you attend Style Edina, you’ll learn some of the best features this suburban destination has to offer. “This show is the perfect opportunity to preview of what fashion, restaurants, and spas are available here.” Mayers says.
Each year, the event also partners with a local nonprofit to give back to the community. “This year, our local nonprofit partner will be Edina Education Fund,” Loberg says. “A portion of our ticket proceeds will go to supporting their mission of raising funds to support educational needs for all Edina Public School students. The Education Fund works to raise supplemental funds to support additional, valuable experiences for kids in our community.”
