A message from the founder of Hope Chest for Breast Cancer

    Dear Minnesota Monthly Reader:

The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer is so pleased to partner with Minnesota Monthly on this first annual Women of Achievement Giving Women Hope section. We wish to thank Minnesota Monthly for creating this opportunity to recognize women of achievement in the community and at the same time increase awareness of the Hope Chest. The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer® raises money to support those touched by breast cancer through the sale of donated upscale furniture, accessories and designer clothing in a chain of Hope Chest retail stores. The guiding mantra is: “Excellent quality, excellent buys, all for an excellent cause.” The first store opened in Orono/Navarre in November of 2002. It is 6,000 square feet of amazing, upscale items. The donations come in daily and the store changes constantly, offering a variety of new items from interior designers, retail stores and manufacturers along with mint condition, slightly used donations from individuals. We also receive inventory from retail establishments going out of business. We are currently looking for a site for a second store on the east side of the Twin Cities with the ultimate goal to open 50 stores across the nation, and once they are operational, to contribute $10,000,000 every year to breast cancer causes.

I personally wish to thank and congratulate all of the participants in this Women of Achievement section. These women understand the power of coming together to assist women who have been touched by breast cancer and to ultimately help find the cause and the cure for breast cancer. Thank you. Your support is very much appreciated.
