Maybe you’re one of the more than 160 million Americans who rely on eyewear daily. From being able to read small letters on a page to driving in the dark, glasses make our lives easier. But anyone who wears glasses will tell you that function is only one consideration for a pair of frames, now that innovative designers have made them a must-have accessory. Glasses are now just as much of a statement as a stylish purse, flashy pair of shoes, or piece of jewelry. With a little design ingenuity, wearability and personal style can be a package deal.
For eyebobs head designer Chelsey Wright, “eyewear has transformed into fashion rather than a medical device,” she says, adding, “It really shows how far this industry has come.” No company has embraced fashion-forward frames quite like eyebobs, a Minnesota-based eyewear brand known for its eye-catching frames. With Wright overseeing its design operation, the glasses eyebobs offers are anything but boring.
Wright has been hard at work crafting quirky and unique new designs to celebrate eyebobs’ 20th anniversary. The brand has a long history of being on top of trends while offering its customers one-of-a-kind frames for people bold enough to go against the grain. Its new heritage collection is a tribute to classic eyebobs frames but reimagined for 2021—with fresh colors, funky frame shapes, and alluring textures.
A history of innovation
“Our customers love bold eyewear,” Wright says. “We saw that there were a lot of colors and shapes in those original eyebobs collections that came out during our first 20 years of life. I wanted to create an anniversary collection that goes back to what eyebobs was originally founded on.”
The way she sees it, eyebobs has been on the frontier of iconic eyewear since its inception. To celebrate its 20-year anniversary, eyebobs is launching a new pair of glasses every month in 2021. One of Wright’s favorite styles, called “Chutzpah’d,” has already been revealed. With a softened but squared-off frame, this style is offered in two show-stopping colors and patterns.
That’s just the beginning. Wright and her team experimented with a variety of new colors and textures for this launch. “Each piece is very out-there and very bright in color,” she says. “Each style also features this unique application called lamination,” which results in a distinct, layered coloration that is completely unique to eyebobs. With a myriad of styles to choose from, eyebobs has a perfect frame waiting for every personality.
