Proprietor Mike McBrady’s grandmother, Rose Ann, lived on a family farm in Graceville, Minnesota. She loved grapes and kept Beta grapevines on the farm. Beta grapes are the original hardy grapes that are ideal for jams, jellies, and juice. In addition to make making a little wine for the holidays, Grandma Rose Ann canned grape juice to the delight of her grandchildren.
Her love of grapes and grapevines grown in neat tidy trellis and spalling up the silo walls inspired Mike to plant a grapevine in the backyard to every house he has lived in and in turn inspired him make wine and grapes part of his life.
Crow River Winery practices sustainable farming, growing grapes, hard neck garlic, pumpkins, and keeping bees. For 10 years they have kept with Minnesota’s history and heritage, by raising Minnesota Cold Climate grapes. Crow River Winery has five vineyards totaling 22 acres surrounding Hutchinson, Minnesota. Grape varieties grown include Itasca, Marquette, LaCrescent, Frontenac, Frontenac Blanc, Frontenac Gris, Prairie Star, and Brianna.
A large variety of wines are hand crafted on sight by their winemaker ranging from their most popular wine, Honeycrisp Apple Cranberry, to a rich, red Marquette and everything in between. Every wine is so unique and delicious, building a wine flight is suggested to help find your favorite.
The winery grounds are also home to a family-friendly Tasting Room, beautiful outdoor Courtyard, Bistro, Conference Rooms, and Event Halls. Crow River winery is open seven days a week and is connected to the Luce Line state trail where you can take a leisurely walk or bike ride. Stop for an artisan pizza and glass of wine in the Courtyard before you continue your exploration of the Minnesota prairie.
If you are planning a wedding or special event, Crow River Winery provides the perfect setting for memories you will never forget. Their event calendar is packed with festivals, live music, concerts, and more. Minnesota based musicians play in the outdoor Courtyard or Tasting Room every Sunday. Every fall the winery hosts a Grape Stomp, Corn Maze, and Pumpkin Fest that are fun for all ages.
