Candlelight Floral & Gifts

Beginning her career in the floral industry in 2010, Lesa Fenwick started with Candlelight Floral & Gifts without any formal training or prior experience. Her family is one of entrepreneurs and small business owners, so she always saw herself owning a business—soon learning that she loved the floral industry and wanted to grow in it. In 2015, the opportunity arose for her to purchase the store from previous owner, Vickie, who taught her all aspects of the business from the ground up. By age 25, her dream of owning a business had already come true.

Her passion for floral comes from her love for flowers, knowing how much they mean to people. Flowers are a reflection of all emotions, there for all occasions, and are truly beneficial to our mental health. Each arrangement is carefully crafted, created by the hands of designers with many years of experience, and customized for the sender and recipient. Customer service is just one of her specialties, with multiple awards and a portfolio of exceptional reviews for the business.

Recently, Fenwick has started connecting with other florists throughout the state to mentor them—visiting other shops, providing tips, and discussing hardships and successes. In addition to mentorship, she is active in the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce, the Wayzata Lions Club, and various other women’s networking groups. Last July, she was awarded two community service awards: the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lions Club International and the Community Impact Award from TeamWomen’s Wave-Maker Awards.

Fenwick attributes her ethic and enthusiasm to her professional successes. The idea that there is always something new to learn has driven her in her everyday life–being open, welcoming, and honest to those in her field. “My philosophy is community over competition,” she says. “There is enough business for all of us, and when one of us is doing well, we are all doing well.”
