OUR MISSION
To connect people, animals, and the natural world to save wildlife.
KEY SERVICES PROVIDED
The Minnesota Zoo is “Where Amazing Lives. Every Day.” We exist to connect people, animals, and the natural world to save wildlife and are committed to serving guests of all backgrounds and abilities.
We offer a growing list of opportunities to ensure all feel welcome as they come to learn and experience nature and incredible wildlife from around the world…or we come to them, if distance is a barrier. From the Zoo’s Free to Explore program to our Zoomobile program, the Minnesota Zoo is working hard to eliminate barriers so everyone can connect with animals and nature. Here are just a few examples of how the Minnesota Zoo is working to ensure every- one can connect:
• Free to Explore – The Minnesota Zoo is free for those who need it to be free. Through Free to Explore any Minnesotan who qualifies for public assistance can explore the Zoo for FREE, year-round.
• Zoomobile – For many, traveling to the Minnesota Zoo is not possible. The Zoomobile travels throughout the state to connect students and communities to amazing animals. From schools and libraries to children’s hospitals and assisted living facilities, the Zoomobile ensures geography isn’t a barrier.
• DreamNight – Once a year, the Minnesota Zoo creates a private evening for children and families with significant health issues and disabilities to enjoy the Zoo away from large crowds.
• Zoo Safari – Many schools don’t have the financial resources to bring their students to the Zoo. Zoo Safari provides free field trips, lunch, and transportation, along with meaningful learning opportunities, to more than 9,000 students each year.
These programs are all funded through private donations from individuals and organizations.
