This quaint river town boasts more life than ever. The Red Wing Parks Department maintains paved paths throughout town for your biking and walking pleasure. Stroll along the river at Levee Park or Bay Point Park to observe the arrival and/or departure of beautiful river boats throughout the summer months. Pack a picnic lunch or scoop up a to-go order from one of the many family owned and operated restaurants to take in the waterfront activities. Locals and visitors alike enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, and playing along the river. Access the new walking path/bridge from the upper harbor (Levee Road) to Old West Main Street where our local brewpub and trendy eateries invite you to tasty experiences. Just off of Old West Main Street you will find an access point to the Cannon Valley Trail. This trail welcomes cyclist and runners from all over the nation. This 19.5 paved path leads to Cannon Falls. There are intriguing stops along the way, which include destination and recreation areas, cultural and historical artifacts, and tranquil settings to just enjoy nature. Join us August 5-7 for River City Days. Various events for all ages take place in and around town. Sturdiwheat hosts a pancake breakfast at the Red Wing regional airport (located just across the river). Partake in an arts and craft festival, sing along to some live music, visit vendors and food trucks, and then wrap up your weekend with the traditional parade.
