    Owner of Twill

Hemingway. Good manners. A well-pressed shirt.

Some things never go out of style, and Twill by Scott Dayton, located in the Galleria in Edina, falls into that category.

“We have a timeless product offering. What you buy from Twill will always be in style,†explains Scott Dayton, owner and visionary behind Twill. Dayton’s men’s store offers a wonderful assortment of traditional clothing, classic sportswear and elegant accessories from highly-regarded vendors such as Hickey Freeman, Scott Barber and Peter Millar.

“We have a limited vendor list and we buy deeply into those vendors. We don’t try to be all things to all people,†Dayton comments. “We select our vendors and buy merchandise that fits the vision of our store.â€

Twill’s loyalty and commitment to their vendors is being reciprocated. The Peter Millar line of fine clothing and accessories recently asked Twill to be one of their five Signature Stores in the country.  “We are the only store in town to carry this line, and it is an honor that they asked me to be one of their preferred stores,†Dayton says.

In addition to offering outstanding customer service at the store, Twill employees go above and beyond with personal home deliveries, office visits, and closet consultations.

According to Dayton, “Often, it is our level of service that our customers most appreciate.â€

    Q. What do you consider your biggest accomplishment to date?

Few people expected a new business to achieve such early success. Twill’s outstanding first two and a half years has made me realize that I had a clear vision for the store and a clear understanding of what was missing from the retail marketplace in the Twin Cities. Our immediate success and developing such a loyal following are my biggest accomplishments to date.

    Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
    A. As far as the business goes, I hope we will continue to grow rapidly, expanding our product offerings and customer base, while remaining true to our vision.

    Q. How has your company changed since first opening?
    A. We really haven’t changed. The plan I had for the store, the direction I wanted to take the business, our philosophy and our core values have all remained the same. Our business has grown exponentially and we are preparing to double the size of the store. We have modified the vendor list and have added a few outstanding vendors since we opened, but other than that, the business is what it has always been.

    Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?
    A. It has been a lifelong dream to own my own store. The fact that it has become a reality and that I now drive to MY store everyday puts a smile on my face. It has been an incredible experience, and to have the ability to be part of a successful and growing business…to be the driving force behind that success…is beyond words.

    Q. What expression best describes your philosophy on life?
    A. Do what you love, and success will follow.
