Dotted with numerous lakes, Douglas County’s DATA Trails offer a combination of open flatlands to heavily wooded and often hilly riding. Snowmobilers often comment about the spectacular views and the variety of wildlife they encounter while riding. If you don’t have a snowmobile of your own, rentals are available at Arrowwood Resort or Lake Darling Resort.
The Alexandria area parks provide all kinds of options to get out and breath in that fresh winter air. The varied landscapes are ideal for snowshoeing or hiking. Take advantage of specially groomed trails for cross country skiing and fat tire biking. For cross country skiing, miles of groomed trails are available at Lake Carlos State Park, Kensington Runestone Park, Spruce Hill Park and Andes Tower Hills.
Fat tire biking is a great way to keep your wheels turning year around. The groomed fat tire trails at Kensington Runestone Park will take you through beautiful, wooded landscapes. The trails at Lake Brophy Park wind around numerous hills and offer glorious open views at the tops overlooking multiple lakes. Both parks also offer sledding hills. Bike rentals are available at Jakes Bikes, Alex Bike Shop and through the Outdoor Gear Library at Community Ed.
