The Wedding Guys just returned from New York Bridal Fashion Week! After taking in seventeen fashion shows in two and a half days, we can tell that there are going to be some gorgeous dresses rocking the wedding aisles in 2019.
Every bride has her own vision for her wedding day look and saying “yes to the dress” is an essential part of bringing her dreams to life. When it comes to selecting your wedding gown, there are more styles to choose from than ever as designers push the boundaries and bring innovation to the bridal runway. At this year’s Bridal Fashion Week, a spin on contemporary tradition was more than evident. The top trends are full of retro inspiration and the fabric of choice was, without a doubt, lace. We are seeing very little satin and some daring designers are starting to use moiré. Feathers are also making a big statement, giving brides a delicate, effortless look.
The one big factor this year is “the Meghan Markel effect.” From classic gowns with sleeves and romantic necklines to embellished cathedral veils and trains, the Duchess of Sussex effect has made a big impact on the bridal fashion world. Simple lines, sophisticated, and reserved classic style with lace and embellished embroidery that includes multiple layers of fabric is definitely in, while see-through illusion gowns are on the decline.
This coming season, capes are coming onto the scene in a big way, from crepe-draped backs extending to a full train and even some with multiple layers and embellishments in a more traditional style. Color has also entered into the mix, including the usual nude color but popping this year is black, moss green, and rose.
