Buy Low, Sell High.
CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF, it’s not all gloom and doom in the real estate market. According to Re/Max Results realtor Marshall Saunders, “You just have to look at it from the right perspective.”
When addressing the issues of high inventories and foreclosures, Marshall sees the silver lining.
“It’s unfortunate that some people are losing their homes because of the depressed market, but at the same time, it allows others to benefit from lower prices and more negotiable sellers. Buy low, sell high. Now is definitely the time to buy.”
The current real estate market works in favor of investors, first-time homebuyers, and people looking to “move up,” Marshall says.
Whether the economy is booming or sluggish, there are people willing to buy and sell homes. Marshall points out that successful real estate agents can do well in any real estate climate. It comes down to being flexible when working with buyers and sellers, being trustworthy and reliable, and going the extra mile. He works with clients to make the process as seamless as possible, and is a zealous advocate for their best interests. He loves what he does and it shows.
Marshall—always one to see the glass as half full—believes there are plenty of opportunities in the housing market when people look for them. Even Donald Trump, an intelligent (and very wealthy) businessman sees today’s market as a good time to buy up as much property as he can, knowing it will eventually increase in value.
Marshall is currently helping large groups of investors buy homes in North Minneapolis where two-plus bedroom homes can be purchased from various banks for as little as $20,000. By investing around $40,000 in repairs and remodeling, these homes can be flipped and rented out for over $1,000 per month.
“By doing this, a person can clear a 10 percent higher return on their investment every year, while taking another boarded-up home off the market. You can make money and help the world at the same time…it’s a beautiful thing.”

Question Everything.
QUESTION EVERYTHING. It’s a simple philosophy, but not that easy to practice. Unless, that is, you’re Jeffrey Sheridan. Questioning everything is one of the reasons this talented attorney is one of the state’s premier DWI defense lawyers and why he epitomizes what it takes to be a Minnesota Trendsetter. He fights not only the facts of his clients’ cases, but regularly takes on the laws themselves—and wins. According to Sheridan, “Legislatures and judges are so used to simply going along with the ‘system,’ they rarely stop to think about whether that system is constitutionally valid. But if given the opportunity, I’ve found that judges are anxious to challenge their own minds and wrestle with legitimate complaints about the way our system of justice is implemented.” Nothing gets Sheridan fighting like a claim that a judge should approve a police practice simply because “that’s the way we’ve always done it.”
Sheridan has been rocking the boat for over 20 years, and has racked up an impressive list of victories in both the trial and appellate courts. Although he confines his practice to defending DWI and other criminal cases, he considers himself primarily a constitutional lawyer. By adding constitutional challenges to his cases, he forces prosecutors to seriously consider the implications of their decisions. If they don’t settle on favorable terms, they may not only lose their case, but wind up weakening every similar case throughout Minnesota.
Sheridan’s work has not gone unrecognized by his peers. He is one of the most popular speakers at continuing education seminars and his written materials are in constant demand. He has been included for the second year in a row in the prestigious list of the “Best Lawyers in America,” published in the June issue of Minnesota Monthly magazine. In addition, he was honored as an “Attorney of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer Newspaper and repeatedly included in the list of Minnesota’s “Super Lawyers” by The Journal of Minnesota Law & Politics.
There are plenty of lawyers in the phone book, but very few have the proven track record of Jeffrey Sheridan. And despite his hectic and demanding practice, Jeff still offers free, in-person consultations.
