All Aboard! Tall Ships Sail into Duluth

There’s hardly a shortage of things to do in Duluth. Each year visitors flock in to view the Aerial Lift Bridge, shop Canal Park, visit the Glensheen Estate, or see the Superior National Forest. But one of the area’s biggest, albeit temporary, attractions is set to dock this week: Tall Ships.

The festival, which is expected to be the largest to date, will sail in this Thursday, departing next Monday. This is the only destination on Lake Superior—and only one of a handful of other Great Lake ports—to host the Tall Ships Challenge, in addition to the chance to see, and tour some of the grandest ships of yore.  Four ships will offer daily board tours (one ticket gives you access to all five ships), while two more will be available for dockside tours. (Due to the popularity of the festival, daily sails are sold out.) In addition to rekindling the nation’s nautical past, there will also be educational programming, food and drinks, and entertainment throughout the weekend, lasting from 11-1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
