Bikes and Beers Unite This Weekend

Now that the snow has melted for another season (please-oh-please-oh-please don’t let that statement provoke the Weather Gods to prove me wrong. If we get hit with a snowstorm tomorrow, you’ll know why), it’s a good time to break out the bike(s). Unless, of course, you’re a die-hard Minnesotan who has been biking all winter long. In that case, I tip my hat to you, brave soul.

For the majority of us, spring is the perfect time to bike again after a winter of hibernation. In an effort to get people outside riding, the City of Minneapolis has designated April as “30 Days of Biking Month.” The 30 Days of Biking pledge started back in 2010, and has really taken off in the past five years.

This Saturday, pedal-pushing beer lovers can combine their two passions during the “Tour de Breweries,” starting at Town Hall Brewery, 1430 Washington Ave. S., Minneapolis at 12:30 p.m. with lunch, rolling out to Sociable Cider Werks at 1:30, and then at 2:30 p.m., heading to NorthGate Brewing for a bike party, including a tuneup and a pint for only $10.

Riders are encouraged to share their biking adventures online with the hashtag #30daysofbiking. For more information about the weekend event (or upcoming events), visit 30daysofbiking.com.
