Day Trip: Upcoming Events at Alexis Bailly Vineyard

I have a soft place in my heart for Minnesota wineries. In 2005, my husband and I got engaged at Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria. There’s just something romantic about wineries with the rows of apple trees, the grape vines and the barrels lining the cellars. Not to mention the wine! It’s truly neat that we Minnesotans have so many opportunities to visit local wineries—and well into the fall season, too.

Within the next month, Alexis Bailly Vineyard in Hastings, which has been producing wine from Minnesota-grown grapes since 1978, hosts three events that pair one of my most favorite things (wine, obviously) with two of my other favorite things—books and a sale!

First, on November 19, enjoy an event pairing wine with local artisanal cheese, chocolate or other delicacy. Author Brett Laidlaw (Trout Caviar: Recipes from a Northern Forager) will be on-site to sign his book.

Then, on December 10 & 17, head to the winery for its end-of-the-year sale for discounts on all wines and everything else in the store. Bonus: On December 17, Lynne Rossetto Kasper of NPR’s The Splendid Table, will be on hand to sign copies of her latest book, The Splendid Tables’ How to Eat Weekends. What a great way to finish out the year!
