Do you long for your backyard to be reminiscent of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory or displays at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum? Or would you be happy if you could just keep that succulent in your kitchen window alive? Regardless of your floral finesse or herb aspirations, the 2018 Hennepin County Master Gardener Learning Garden Tour has all the trowels, seeds, and knowhow for your plant-based passions.
Put on by volunteers with the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener Program – Hennepin County, the 2018 Hennepin County Master Gardner Learning Garden Tour will feature nine, count ‘em, nine of the Twin Cities’ most spectacular home gardens carefully crafted and tended to by Master Gardener Volunteers. As an added bonus, the tour will also feature a community garden whose roots began as a Victory Garden in 1943.
Found along the self-guided tour will be food trucks at select stops making sure garden enthusiasts have the fuel they need to make it through the tour, and demonstrations by Master Garden Volunteers can be found at each garden involving topics such as hydroponics, native plants, and composting. Did I just turn into Bruce Banner? Because I can feel my thumb turning into a shade of Incredible Hulk green just writing this.
In addition, a Book Nook featuring a variety of books for kids and adults as well as the Garden Shed, which is chock-full of gardening accessories, can also be found on the tour.
The 2018 Hennepin County Master Gardener Learning Garden Tour will take place Saturday, July 14, and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine, and tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
