1. Shadows & Spirits of the Capitol Tour

Minnesota State Capitol, St. Paul
Date: October 20, 25, 26, and 27
Tickets: $15 adults, $14 seniors and college students, $13 ages 5-17

Costumed actors, playing “historical spirits,” will share stories of the history of the Capitol in dimly lit areas in the rotunda and various chambers and hallways of the building. Learn more.

2. Waconia Scarecrow Tour

City-wide
Through October 21
Free

Business owners and community groups have been participating in this scarecrow contest for 11 years now. Traditionally, Waconia has been decorated with up to 50 scarecrows. Spectators are encouraged to vote on their favorite. Learn more.

3. Halloween Family Fun Day

Weaver Lake Park, Maple Grove
October 20, 1-4 p.m.
Tickets: $5, ages 2-8; free, ages 2 and under

This family-friendly event includes a Halloween costume fashion show, candy corn bowling, monster inflatables, pumpkin rolling, a maze, treasure hunting, face painting, and the ultimate scream contest. Learn more.

4. Waldoch Farm Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze

Waldoch Farm Garden Center, Lino Lakes
Daily through October 31, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Tickets: $12 day pass, ages 3 and up; Free, ages 2 and under

Bring your family to a huge corn maze shaped like a tractor. There’s also a hay ride, tug-o’-war, a pumpkin patch, an obstacle course, and other games. Learn more.

5. Monster Manor

Stearns County Fairgrounds, Sauk Centre

Tickets: $7 (ages 5 and under not allowed)

Monster Manor is Sauk Centre’s own much-beloved scare attraction, now in its 35th season. Every year is a little different, and unlike other outdoor Halloween events, this one lets you wait in a heated, indoor space. Learn more.

6. The Great Pumpkin Fest 

Valleyfair, Shakopee

Valleyfair has transformed into ValleySCARE, but there are still ways for the kids to get involved—and it all takes place during the day. The Great Pumpkin Fest, inspired by Peanuts cartoon character Linus and his belief in a Santa-like pumpkin, features a pirate party, a hay-bale maze, the candy-dishing Trick-or-Treat Street, a craft corner, a parade, and more based on Charles Schulz’ characters.
