If there’s one thing that visitors to our state learn about Minnesotan’s this time of year is that they enjoy their state, 12 months a year. Even though there is not a single degree of temperature to be found on area thermometers this time of year, that doesn’t mean now is a time to hibernate. There’s more cool moments to enjoy in Minnesota.
That’s the theme of Explore Minnesota’s new advertising campaign for Winter 2014: More Cool Moments. This past year, the tourism agency received a much-needed bump in its budget to promote tourism to our area. Data shows that such marketing investments pay dividends. A single dollar in marketing generates eight dollars in state and local taxes, and $84 in spending by travelers—all of it contributing to a nearly $12 billion industry in Minnesota. More Cool Moments is the latest spot to build off the More to Explore theme that was introduced nearly three years ago. The new spot continues the look and feel of the commercials created early last year, which play off the “more to” theme, but only in words on the screen. No voiceover, jingle or celebrities; just scenes of people enjoying Minnesota. Take a look.
