The Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus is rising like the phoenix with their When I Rise concert. It includes new commissions from composers like Steve Milloy, Timothy Takack, Jake Runestad, Dr. Gerald Gurss, and Alan Shorter to celebrate the group’s choral art and music.

There’s Always Time for a Cocktail 

What: Pop-Up Bar Takeover with James Beard Finalist Chef Yia Vang 
When: March 26, 6-8 p.m.
Where: The Hewing Hotel, 300 N. Washington Ave., Minneapolis 

James Beard finalist chef Yia Vang, of Union Hmong Kitchen (and, soon, Vinai), gets behind the bar at the Hewing Hotel with a cocktail menu featuring six specialty drinks that contain some of his favorite ingredients. Lemongrass, kulantro, galangal, Thai chilis, passion fruit, and guava will create a delicious umami experience. 

Women in STEM 

What: Discovery Days: Women in Science

Where: The Bakken Museum, 3537 Zenith Ave., Minneapolis

The Bakken Museum is creating a family-friendly atmosphere for everyone to learn more about women in science. The event features learning stations, make-and-take activities, and discussions with Minnesotan women in STEM. 

Cornhole for Charity 

What: NSC Play Battle of the Bags 
When: March 26, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Where: National Sports Center, 1700 105th Ave. NE, Blaine 

The National Sports Center is hosting an indoor cornhole tournament to raise funds for youth sporting equipment. 

Saxophone for the Stars

What: Mindi Abair
When: March 27, 7-8:30 p.m.
Where: Dakota Jazz Club, 1010 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis

Mindi Abair, a two-time Grammy nominated saxophonist and vocalist, will be performing at the Nicollet Mall. Abair’s career includes collaborations with artists like Aerosmith, the Backstreet Boys, Booker T. Jones, and others. 

A Spooky Stroll in Saint Paul 

What: Haunted Walking Tour of Downtown St. Paul 
When: March 27, 1-2:15 p.m.
Where: 380 St. Peter Street, Saint Paul

Learn more about St. Paul’s haunting history on a guided tour throughout the city. The 75-minute tour will include ghostly tales through various buildings and skyways.
