Fall Beverage and Music Fest

What: Minnesota Monthly‘s Rhythm & Brews

Where: CHS Field, 360 N. Broadway St., St. Paul

Returning for its second year, this festival features live music and beverages to sample. Mae Simpson will headline this year’s concert in the home of the St. Paul Saints. Food will be available for purchase as well.

Honoring Non-Violence and Gandhi’s birthday
What:  International Day of Non-Violence

Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violence philosophy is celebrated by recognizing his Oct. 2 birthday with a free event highlighting dance by SAATH, jazz music by Jim ten Bensel and remarks by three nationally recognized author/speakers. Hosted by the India Association of Minnesota (IAM), the Minnesota Historical Society,  the Dr. Dash Foundation and Twin Cities Nonviolent.

The Church Basement Ladies are back with a revival of this fan-favorite production. The year is 1960, and small dramas lead to big laughs as Beverly gets her first pair of high heels for confirmation; Pastor announces his impending nuptials; Mrs. Snustad and Mrs. Gilmerson plan a food booth at the County Fair to raise money; and Mrs. Engelson embarks on a spontaneous driving lesson. Through it all, these “bulwarks never failing” stand strong in their faith and in their friendships.

While Fashion Week Minnesota is taking a brief pause this season, Black Fashion Week MN is in full swing with its fall runway series, featuring five immersive events across the Twin Cities. Originally a part of the Twin Cities Black Film Festival, Black Fashion Week MN has grown into a powerful independent platform across its six years, creating a space that emboldens and celebrates black creatives within the community. Dress in your runway best and grab a seat at these upcoming fall shows, kicking off with the Cognac Fashion Show Experience at the Glasshouse Lounge, and rounding out with the Black Man Magic Fashion Show at The District Edina.
