New Space for Seals

What: Como Harbor Grand Opening

A ribbon-cutting for Como Park Zoo & Conservatory’s latest exhibit, Como Harbor, introduces St. Paul to a new, improved habitat for seals and sea lions. The redesign and overhaul brings in some new species, plus “needed upgrades” for Sparky the Sea Lion. Among new visitor amenities, included with the improvement, Pier 56 is an outdoor cafe near the new harbor. Reserve a spot online.

Pride Month: A Drag Revue at the Black Hart

To ring in Pride month, drag queen Lily White hosts the Pumps & Pearls drag revue on June 3 at the Black Hart bar in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood, for a night of old-school drag. Then, a new Friday series kicks off on June 4, featuring a showcase called Power and presented by the Twin Cities-based, Black-owned Luzious Entertainment. Performing drag artists and musicians include Eden T. Lareese, Harrie Bradshaw, Lala Luzious, special guest Monica West, and more. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, according to a press release.

Outdoor Orchestra

The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra plans to set up in the Mears Park bandshell in St. Paul’s Lowertown neighborhood, presenting Vivaldi’s Summer violin concerto (from the much-beloved Four Seasons), featuring Nina Tso-Ning Fan as a soloist, as well as Lyric (George Walker), new music by acclaimed composer Viet Cuong, and more.
