Still By the Lake at Madden's Resort

Ladies, tell me the truth. When you hear yoga, massage, aromatherapy and acupuncture, plus wine tasting, cocktails, and delicious food, you’re like, “Sign me UP,” right? I know that’s how I feel. Well, lucky for us, Madden’s resort in the Brainerd Lakes area is offering a weekend filled with these wonderful things. Still By the Lake Retreat, which takes place September 28-30 (so you still have time to sign up!), has rest and renewal in mind for all women. Seriously, rest and relaxation is built right in to the weekend’s agenda. I don’t know about you, but as a busy mom who just chased a toddler around all weekend by herself, this sounds like heaven on Earth. (Minnesota Monthly’s Style Editor Katie Dohman has already booked her spot.)

Madden’s partnered with Green Lotus Yoga & Healing Center to offer a girls’ getaway. They’ve even brought in keynote speakers like Bobby Sullivan (Our Auras and the Energy Around Us), Gwen Linden-Bruzek (Ayurveda Basics: Get to Know Yourself from the Inside Out), and Dr. Ronda Diegel (The Enneagram: Understanding Yourself and Others). Breakout sessions include Happy Hour Acupuncture, Escape with Aromatherapy, Chakra Journey Yoga, golf clinics, mug or wine glass painting, and individual consultations with the keynote speakers.

Plus, each day offers a yoga class and free time to enjoy The Spa at Madden’s, picking from a wide range of menu items including massage (classic, stone, and deep tissue), body wraps, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, and more. If the weather cooperates, you can also take time to enjoy the resort’s other amenities, including golf, paddleboat rides, tennis, and croquet. Where you sleep is just as important and Madden’s offers warm accommodations, with views of the golf course or Gull Lake. At the end of September, you’re sure to arrive in the midst of the leaves changing, adding a fire of beauty to your weekend. Fall is truly a magical time to visit northern Minnesota, and a perfect time for a little rejuvenation.
