Kick Hunger in 3 Courses
WHAT: Taste of the NFL
WHEN: November 18, 6 p.m.
WHERE: Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, 5601 W. 78th St., Bloomington
After a cocktail hour and socializing, retired Viking Ben Leber hosts a celebrity chef–studded evening. A special chef-designed, three-course meal comes with wine pairings, and a “VIP guest” is seated at each table.
WHY: The party-with-a-purpose, back in its 27th year, is the shindig to attend the night before the Super Bowl. It might be $100 per person (and $750 for a table), but the proceeds go to St. Paul’s Second Harvest Heartland, which works to kick hunger with its food shelter. Your dinner, prepared by chefs from as far as Los Angeles, helps local families access affordable food.
INSIDER INFO: Along with the Edina Chamber of Commerce, Lela, the southwest-metro dining destination and go-to meetup for area businesses, is helping to put on this annual “who’s-who” evening. That makes it, at its heart, a locally focused event.

WHY: You’ll make a difference for those suffering from cystic fibrosis and discover the many research efforts. You’ll also get to hear the story of the Wilcox family, this year’s featured Bid for a Cure speaker, as they relate how the foundation helped their daughter Emma Jo when she needed a double lung transplant at age 15.
INSIDER INFO: Come for the pre-event reception silent auction, different from the lively live auction later in the night with WCCO’s beloved Don Shelby as the emcee.
