Are you scared yet?
Halloween is still a month away, but the zombies, Freddy Krueger’s, witches and burly men with chainsaws just can’t wait. All around the metro area, screams will echo in buildings with dark, narrow hallways where the dead, insane, and evil roam (insert malicious, cackling laugh). This weekend, haunted attractions will open, terrifying visitors and providing tangible nightmares.

Dead End Hayride: (Wyoming) Located on a running farm, this is one lifelike hayride. You will be taken deep into the woods that lead to The Departed Oaks Haunted Trail, which is home to the Sunny Vale Asylum where the real terror starts. If you make it out, then visit Site 66, the haunted cornfield and chainsaw maze. Once done being scared, face a different kind of fear and go for a ride on the mechanical bull.
Nightmare Hallow Scream Park: (Forest Lake/Columbus) Taking a new twist on haunted attractions, this is an all-in-one scare park with a double-sided haunted house that includes the clown carnival, haunted hayride, bar and dance area, bonfires, flame jugglers, an outdoor cage maze, and vortex tunnel. Brand new this year is outdoor zombie paintball where you take a hayride into the field and get to shoot at the living dead. The zombie apocalypse is real!
Frightmare at Buck Hill: (Burnsville) Once the snow falls, Buck Hill is a winter wonderland with visitors skiing down slopes and basking in the fresh winter air. But in October, the forgotten guests of the Bellharm Asylum lurk and the workers at the Fright Factory, no longer under any formal management, are allowed to roam free. Along with the Orchard Manor Dead and Breakfast, Haunted Hollow, Magic Maniac Show, and a full bar and restaurant with live bands, this haunted attraction is both entertaining and horrifying.
ValleySCARE: (Shakopee) As if plummeting to the ground on a rollercoaster isn’t scary enough, in October Valleyfair turns into ValleySCARE (every weekend). At night, haunted attractions and scare zones, creepy live entertainment, and zombie mazes will bring fears and phobias to life. Planet Snoopy, located inside of the park, turns into Planet Spooky, but is scare-free fun is for the whole family.
