What are you doing this weekend? What’s that? You don’t have plans? We have a six-word suggestion for you: Go to the Midwest Home Show.
(Well, actually 11 words if you add “at the Minneapolis Convention Center.”) We’ve added fun and exciting features to this year’s show, listed below.
1. Free Antique Appraisals
For the first time at the Midwest Home Show, you can have an antique or collectable appraised—at no cost—by award-winning Dr. Lori of the Discovery Channel’s Auction Kings! Dr. Lori is a nationally known antiques appraiser whose work has been featured in numerous TV shows and publications. Find out the value of that family heirloom or auction or flea market “find” while meeting the hilarious and knowledgeable Dr. Lori.
2. Bargain Shop for a Great Cause
Pick up all the supplies you need for your home or your home improvement project at the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore sale. This new event will feature a huge sale of new and gently-used home goods donated by contractors, building supply stores, demolition crews, and individuals—all sold at deeply discounted prices. All proceeds benefit Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, committed to building the quality of life, health and prosperity of the region through the production and preservation of homeownership—because homes and families are the foundation of successful communities.
3. Free Professional Interior Design Advice
Connect with top local interior designers at the Design Matchmaker event, pairing guests with talented design experts to provide free consultations and professional advice for various interior design projects.
4. Free Ticket Friday
Round up your family and friends and attend the show free of charge on Friday, November 14. (Admission is $4 Saturday and Sunday.) If you already work downtown, stop by on your way home! (Particularly useful if you need anything for your home—see No. 2 above “Bargain Shop for a Great Cause.”)
5. Fun for the Little Ones
6. Chairs with Flair
Visit the Midwest Home Lounge to see original pieces of up-cycled furniture created by local artists. See the artists at work as they skillfully repurpose old pieces of furniture, provided by Bridging, into beautiful works of art. Bridging is the largest furniture bank in the U.S. and Canada, improving lives by providing quality furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.
7. The Michael Knight Show Live Broadcast
This year, the Michael Knight Show on 105 The Ticket will broadcast live from the show on Friday, November 14 from 2-3 p.m. Knight will be joined by Super Bowl XLI champion Ben Utecht. Utecht, the former tight end for the Indianapolis Colts and former Minnesota Gopher, is now a musician, motivational speaker, author, and actor. Stop by to see the live radio broadcast and stay for an autograph!
8. Master the Home Brew
Stop by Northern Brewer Homebrew Supply to learn about brewing beer and making wine at home. Watch live demonstrations and purchase your starter kit at the show.
9. Make a Bold Statement
Visit Machine Age Lamps at the Midwest Home Show to see creative lighting fixtures and handcrafted lamps created locally in Lakeville. These unique lamps add dramatic architectural elements to any room. If you want a statement piece; this is it.
10. Tackle Home Renovation Projects
Kick off the holiday season with innovative products and services in remodeling, design, landscaping, and more! With hundreds of exhibitors under one roof, this is the perfect one-stop-shop for your home improvement needs.
