Valentine’s Day: Plan a Romantic Getaway

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner (that’s next Tuesday, Feb. 14, for you forgetful readers). What are you doing with your sweetie? How about slipping away for a resort weekend or spending some quality time at a spa or on a hike? Here are a few places where you can find romance in Greater Minnesota.

Grand View Lodge in Nisswa sits on Gull Lake up north and has plenty of activities for couples to bond over, like skiing, snowshoeing, and wine tastings. Plus, Glacial Waters Spa offers a chance to relax and rejuvenate (try the couple’s massage). Grand View’s Grand Romance package features two nights in a room with a fireplace, a candlelight dinner for two in the dining room, chocolates and champagne, as well as a gift from the spa. Enjoy a romantic sleigh ride to top it off.

You might also enjoy a getaway in the bed and breakfast capitol of the world: Lanesboro (southeast of the Twin Cities). Stone Mill Hotel & Suites has themed guest rooms (some with double whirlpool bathtubs and fireplaces) that offer a peaceful escape. The Romance and Relaxation Package includes a discounted room rate, winery package, and massage for one. The nearby Lanesboro Day Spa presents more chances for relaxation, while the nearby Scenic Valley Vineyard offers wine tastings. Check out the vineyard’s Roses Romance Relaxation package, which comes with a bottle of local wine, two signature glasses, a bouquet of roses, and a romantic carriage ride.

Another choice: Heading up north to Bluefin Bay Resort on Lake Superior in Tofte. Get rose petals scattered in your room or enjoy a couple’s massage on top of the Romance Package (which comes with breakfast and dinner). The resort offers an outdoor hot tub, Waves of Superior Spa, an ice rink, sleigh rides, and many more activities for couples to enjoy.
