If you’ve been waiting for a reason to pack up the car, dust off the swimsuits, and commit to a full day of sun, snacks, and water slides—Valleyfair just handed you 13 of them.
The Twin Cities’ biggest amusement park is debuting a major expansion to Superior Shores Waterpark on May 23, adding 13 new slides and attractions and bringing the total to 24 water experiences. That’s not a refresh. It’s a full-scale upgrade.
The timing isn’t subtle. Valleyfair turns 50 this season, and the waterpark expansion is the centerpiece of the celebration. The park opens May 10, but the new attractions make their debut two weeks later—so yes, both dates matter.

What’s Actually New
The expansion leans into balance—big thrills for adrenaline seekers, and plenty of space for younger visitors to play.
Lighthouse Landing—A multi-slide tower with three tube slides and a dual-mat racing slide built for speed, competition, and a splashy finish.
Minnow Bay—A lagoon-style play area with eight smaller slides, interactive features, and room to explore at a slower pace.
There’s also a redesigned entrance aimed at improving flow from the start—a small but meaningful upgrade for anyone who’s navigated a crowded entryway with towels, flip-flops, and a melting popsicle.
The classics aren’t going anywhere. Breakers Bay wave pool, Ripple Rapids lazy river, and the park’s existing slides remain—just with more ways to fill out the day.

A Bigger Moment for Valleyfair
This isn’t happening in a vacuum. Earlier this year, Valleyfair was acquired by Enchanted Parks, one of the country’s largest privately held theme park operators. For longtime fans, that raised questions—but this level of investment offers a clear signal: growth is the plan.
Season passes start at $65.99 and now include access to all Enchanted Parks locations, along with perks like free parking and early entry. There’s also a Preview Day on May 9 for passholders eager to get a head start.
