Blast from the Past

What: Twin Cities Vintage Fest
When: Saturday, Jan. 29; 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Where: Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 2nd Ave. S., Minneapolis

Over 100 vendors of ‘80s and ‘90s clothing and goods will come together for Minnesota’s largest vintage shopping event. Nostalgia will run high as visitors enjoy a vintage arcade, throwback photo-ops, a vinyl DJ and more. 

Ice Breaker

What: Winter Carnival Ice Carvings
When: Opens Friday, Jan. 28; on display through Sunday, Feb. 6
Where: Rice Park, 109 W. 4th St., St. Paul

Teams and individual artists will race against​ the clock to turn ice blocks into masterful works of art. Winter Carnival guests can see the artists in action this weekend, and the final designs will be on display through the duration of the carnival.

Brunch on the Trails

What: Waffles & Ski with Karyn Tomlinson
When: Sunday, Jan. 30; 11 a.m.
Where: Theodore Wirth Park, 1221 Theodore Wirth Pkwy., Golden Valley

Chef Karyn Tomlinson of Myriel will lead this special food and ski combination experience. Participants will hit the trails, stopping along the way for waffles with whipped cream and preserves, ham and cheese buns, and more.

Local Jams

What: Charlie Parr with Corey Medina
When: Sunday, Jan. 30; 7:30 p.m.
Where: Turf Club, 1601 University Ave., St. Paul

Local country-blues musician Charlie Parr will take the stage for the final show of his January residency at Turf Club. He will be joined by Corey Medina, a Native American blues artist based in northern Minnesota. 

The Cat’s Meow

What: Saintly City Cat Show
When: Saturday, Jan. 29-Sunday, Jan. 30; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday
Where: St. Paul RiverCentre, 175 Kellogg Blvd. W., St. Paul

A variety of feline friends will compete in this annual championship competition, from the hairless Sphynx to the fluffy Persian. There will also be a competition for household cats, where your pet could compete for their own King or Queen title.

Tailored Toboggans

What: Art Sled Rally
When: Saturday, Jan. 29; 2-4 p.m.
Where: Powderhorn Park, 3400 15th Ave. S., Minneapolis

Crafting and winter fun combine for this annual event. Participants show off their creativity by designing quirky, DIY, sled-like art pieces to carry them downhill. Past rally entries have incorporated themes like Pac-Man, aquatic life, and more.
