Minneapolis artist Kristi Abbott follows up on her 2018 multi-media collage series Woman Warriors, now throwing men into her cross-continental mix of characters. At the Artistry gallery, in Bloomington, they convey strength as embodied around the world, whether dressed in traditional South American regalia or East Asian embroidery and tattoos.

Set in Prohibition-era Chicago, the musical follows two convicted murderesses in their rise to fame as their crimes become sensationalized by the media. This production allows audience members to sit on the stage with the actors and feel like a part of the show.

Festive Farce

With Miracle on Christmas Lake, at Yellow Tree Theatre, writer and co-founder Jessica Lind Peterson became something of a local treasure. It combined Minnesota theatergoers’ taste for holiday warmth and in-jokes with character-driven storytelling and humor. This season, Lind Peterson stages its zany, heartfelt sequel.
