Express Concert: Coleman’s Afro-Cuban Concerto
Join us for an Express Concert inspired by music rooted in and born from African rhythm and dance. No matter the continent or time period, the works on this program speak to the idea of interconnection, with music stemming from the same sounds and traditions. Brahms’ Second Sextet
The effects of war are profound and far-reaching. Such is the case with Erwin Schulhoff and André Caplet, whose lives changed drastically and were shortened by World Wars I and II. This concert pays tribute to their earlier work paired alongside an early work of Johannes Brahms — his titular Sextet No. 2 written at a time in his life marked by the sudden loss of his mother and a broken engagement to the singer Agathe von Siebold.
