Brahms’ Second Sextet
The effects of war are profound and far-reaching. Such is the case with Erwin Schulhoff and André Caplet, whose lives changed drastically and were shortened by World Wars I and II. This concert pays tribute to their earlier work paired alongside an early work of Johannes Brahms — his titular Sextet No. 2 written at a time in his life marked by the sudden loss of his mother and a broken engagement to the singer Agathe von Siebold.
