First Look: Highcroft Home

Highcroft Home in Wayzata

Jahna Peloquin

For the past ten years, Lussuria Lini has been one of the few places in Minnesota where you can find luxury linens. The Wayzata boutique recently closed its original storefront and reopened as Highcroft Home. The store has maintained its predecessor’s collection of fine linens from sought-after luxury brands, such as Busatti 1842 and Pratesi, while adding a broad selection of home decor and accessories, loungewear, gifts, and stationery.

Owner Molly MacDonald, who purchased Lussaria Lini from its founder, Bob Mitchell, five years ago, has been joined by longtime friend Ann Seehof. Seehof has brought her 14 years of experience as a buyer and store manager for Patina to her role as Highcroft’s merchandise manager. "We work pretty intimately with our clients, so in the process of opening a new store, we've been able to pay attention to what they're looking for,” she says. “Many of them are doing a lot of entertaining and hosting guests, so we thought about what kinds of products we can bring into the store to best fit their lifestyle.”

Like its linens, the store’s home goods and gifts feature luxe touches and fine craftsmanship, including gold-tone candlestick holders, brass coasters, silk pillowcases, ceramic pitchers, hand-turned wooden spoons, and blown-glass carafes. The store also carries high-end, natural laundry products from the Laundress, beautifully packaged soaps by French brand Panier Des Sens, hand-poured diffusers by Barr Co., and natural rock salt crystal potpourri, as well as a small selection of cashmere and alpaca loungewear by designer Alicia Adams and Animana, an ethical line of alpaca-wool knits by Patagonia. "We're not necessarily trying to be a clothing store,” says Seehof, “but want to bring the attention to textile that we find so important in the linens into loungewear."

As for its gold-standard linens, Seehof admits that they can seem a bit unattainable at first due to their high cost. “But what I’ve learned is the quality that goes into it,” she says. “I think people are looking to buy less throwaway things. Something you may buy at Target can start to disintegrate with each wash, whereas the linens we sell get better over time.”

The store, which opened today, hosts a grand opening open house from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 12.

Now open, 770 Lake St. E., Wayzata, 952-746-5826, highcrofthome.com
