On Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, Dunwoody College of Technology celebrated its centennial year with a Centennial Gala Celebration at the Minneapolis Hilton, commemorating the past, present and future of the college through multi-media and video presentations, live music, exhibits and finale fireworks. 780 guests, including alumni, business owners, faculty, staff, and supporters of the college from the community all gathered to pay tribute to the work of Dunwoody over the past century, as well as hear plans for the college’s exciting future. More than $250,000 was raised for student scholarships through the live auction and fund-a-need opportunity.
The guest list included local TV personalities, such as WCCO TV Anchor Jason DeRusha emceeing the event and KARE11 Meteorologist Belinda Jensen making a special appearance. Acclaimed violinist Jennifer “Spags” Spingola played violin and renowned auctioneer Karen Sorba led a fast-paced, entertaining live auction. Morrie Wagener, Dunwoody alum, owner of Morrie’s Automotive Group, was the Honorary Chair of the event. Former tonight show legend Jay Leno provided a personal video message for the proceedings, congratulating Dunwoody on the college’s centennial and Morrie Wagener for his ongoing support.
