Making the Most of the Homes by Architects Tour

Get the most out of your Homes by Architects experience

The seventh annual Homes by Architects Tour is only a few weeks away, and many who have attended the tour before know that planning your tour route ahead of time is a smart strategy. Visit the tour website, www.homesbyarchitects.org, to purchase your tickets in advance and view the tour map. Many loyal tourgoers challenge themselves to visit all of the tour homes during the weekend. Are you up to the challenge?

Be sure to visit the website’s Frequently Asked Questions page to familiarize yourself with the rules of the tour. Shoe covers are provided at each of the tour homes — bringing your shoe covers with you from home to home is a smart way to save a little time at each location.

Whatever your reason for visiting this year’s tour, be sure to take your time at each home, pay attention to the details, and listen to what the architects have to say about their designs. Charles Stinson, AIA, who designed home #1, comments on the tour from his point of view: “Having a house on the tour and getting to see people experience the design for the first time — and then hearing them talk about all the other great homes they’ve visited — is so enjoyable. It’s a welcome reminder of why we do what we do.”

Tickets are available now for $15 (until 3 p.m. on September 19) at www.homesbyarchitects.org. They will also be available at each home on the tour during the weekend for $20 for a full ticket or $10 for an individual home.
