6 Questions with Sam Schedler

Get to know one of Minnesota media’s newest stars

From front-facing videos filmed in his car to stand-up stages across the Twin Cities, Minneapolis-based comedian Sam Schedler has built a following with his relatable humor and distinctly Midwestern perspective. Named Racket’s Twin Cities Comic to Watch for 2025, the Wisconsin native and full-time nurse shares how he got his start, his favorite fall tradition, and why he’ll never apologize for a good Minnesota “ope.”

Hometown: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

Describe your media niche in 10 words: Mostly front-facing videos in my car, plus the occasional interview.

Do you have a media background? Not outside of having a paper route when I was a kid. (Apologies to everyone on my route, but in my defense, that was boring!) My day job is a nurse, and I started making videos during the pandemic as a way to unwind. My guiding principle was always to create when and what I wanted to. I just want to do it when it’s fun! That has led me to where I am now—doing stand-up, talking to local businesses, and (hopefully) making people laugh.

Favorite Minnesota autumn activity: Every October, I do a silent retreat at Pacem in Terris in Isanti. It’s my favorite place in the world. I use it as an opportunity to unplug and read and reflect.

What makes you feel the most Minnesotan? I love a good “Ope, just gonna squeeze right past you.” I won’t apologize for that!
