Calling all Prince fans! Now’s your chance to step into the world of The Kid like never before—the artist’s Minneapolis house featured in the “Purple Rain” film is hitting the Airbnb market for 25 one-night stays, hosted by Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, former members of The Revolution.
Available Oct. 26-Dec. 14, the home can accommodate up to four guests for a price of just $7 per person, a nod to Prince’s favorite number.
According to the Airbnb listing, the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home in Minneapolis’ Longfellow neighborhood has been carefully renovated and transformed into a shrine of Prince’s “Purple Rain” era. From his personal tape collection (including an original demo recording) to his favorite perfumes and a closet full of legendary outfits, guests will find a treasure trove of one-of-a-kind Prince artifacts to peruse during their stay.
What’s Inside
The renovation is a true homage to ’80s nostalgia, featuring purple velvet wallpaper, an old tape machine, vintage furniture, disco balls, and leopard print galore.
One basement bedroom has been transformed into an impressive replica of The Kid’s bedroom in “Purple Rain,” down to the spray-painted eyes behind the bed.
The bathroom has been outfitted as a tribute to the music video for “When Doves Cry,” stocked with a clawfoot tub, stained glass windows, a plush purple robe, and spa essentials for guests to enjoy.
The closet is a museum in and of itself, with several of Prince’s most legendary outfits displayed behind glass. While these pieces aren’t available to try on, the hosts put together a collection of ’80s-inspired outfits (along with hair accessories and makeup) to wear for your own photoshoot.
In the muse lounge, guests can try their hands at playing guitar, drums, and bass. There’s even an app that can teach you how to play “Purple Rain.”
According to the listing, the hosts’ favorite room in the house is a secret space, hidden behind a door that guests will need to activate. Here, you can put your Prince knowledge to the test in the ultimate “purple riddle.”
Reservations for the Airbnb open on Wednesday, Oct. 2, and will close on Sunday, Oct. 6.
