Elizabeth’s Pick: Peoples Organic

Aside from the perennially lovely and dependable Good Earth, there’s never been much to write home about the Galleria’s restaurant offerings. I’m not a big Crave fan, and never went to the recently shuttered Kozy’s (Sunday jazz brunch at a mall, anyone?), so am pretty over the moon about the French Meadow folks opening Peoples Organic. Anyplace that does an all-day breakfast is an instant winner in my book, but make the eggs organic, the bacon from Fischer Farm, and the latte laced with salted caramel and I’m all yours. The cafeteria-style restaurant calls itself a coffee and wine café, but I’ve only been during the day when it’s a bustling with lunch meetings and bag-laden shoppers. The counter service still feels a bit harried, but that may be because the menu is huge and sandwiches on display are distracting in all the right ways. For example: Chicken & Goat Cheese Ciabatta made with Schultz Farm free-range chicken, roasted tomatoes, spinach and garlic aioli. You also can’t go wrong with a salad, locally raised bison burger, or bowl of soup—like the vegan ginger broth, which is poured-to-order over brown rice and fresh vegetables, then topped with sesame seeds. It’s enough to make you want to shop more.
