A visit to Ida Graves Distillery has always been about more than what’s in the glass. This summer, the Alexandria destination is expanding that philosophy through a new partnership with the Alexandria Art Guild that transforms the distillery into an immersive gathering place for art, conversation, and community.

The collaboration includes rotating exhibitions inside the distillery, a prairie sculpture walk across the property’s 88-acre landscape, and a summer cocktail program inspired by Minnesota’s seven micro-seasons. Now, visitors will have an opportunity to connect directly with the artists behind the work through a new Artist Talk series.
The first Artist Talk is scheduled for June 21 from 6-7 p.m., offering guests a casual and interactive opportunity to meet featured artists, learn about their creative process, and explore the stories behind the pieces on display.
Rather than a formal lecture, organizers envision the talks as approachable, experiential gatherings where art sparks conversation.
“Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions, and walk through portions of the exhibition or sculpture trail while learning more about the stories behind the pieces,” says Ida Graves co-founder Brock Berglund. “The talks are designed to feel approachable and experiential—more of an immersive summer gathering than a formal lecture.”
The setting itself is part of the appeal. Nestled near the shores of Lake Ida, the distillery sits among native prairie grasses, wetlands, and pollinator habitat, creating a backdrop that feels distinctly Minnesotan. Visitors can sip handcrafted cocktails while wandering outdoor sculptures, viewing local artwork, and connecting with the artists who created it.
Founded by Brock Berglund and Anna Wilson, Ida Graves has built a reputation around small-batch spirits crafted from regionally sourced ingredients, including vodka distilled from Minnesota honey, botanical-forward gin, traditional aquavit, and seasonal specialty releases. The cocktail room’s current menu highlights the changing seasons through drinks inspired by the state’s fleeting natural rhythms.
The new artist talks add another layer to the experience, blending art, landscape, food, and drink into a destination worthy of a summer road trip.
Additional Artist Talk dates will be announced throughout the season.
