Rolling Into a New Chapter

Rolling Chapters, a mobile book trailer, is now moving into a brick-and-mortar storefront in Cottage Grove

Since 2020, for every bookstore that has closed its doors in the United States, three more have opened, according to the American Booksellers Association. Some new Minnesota favorites include Acorn Bookstore in St. Paul and Inkwell Booksellers in Northeast Minneapolis. Another bookstore is joining the ranks this month, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Rolling Chapters, a mobile book trailer that has been roaming around the Twin Cities since mid-2025, is moving into a brick-and-mortar storefront in Cottage Grove.

Owner Danielle Weber, a local book influencer, first had the idea for Rolling Chapters in June 2025, and just six weeks later, she was rolling her trailer into events. Her transition into a traditional storefront has been only marginally slower. She got the keys to the property on August 31 of this year and will be opening her doors to the public on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Tucked away in Old Cottage Grove just 30 minutes from downtown St. Paul, the space is stunning—shiny porcelain tile, elegant chandeliers, and dark, rich wood bookcases throughout. Walking into Rolling Chapters, customers will feel as though they’ve entered a high-end boutique rather than a standard independent bookstore.

“We had to play off what was given to us. You can’t have porcelain tile and a rustic vibe,” says Weber. “I think the aesthetic is really going to make us stand out.”

The storefront also features an attached 1,500-square-foot patio space, which Weber hopes to use for events of all kinds. Think book fairs, markets, author events, and even the book-themed speed friending events—speed dating, but for friendships—she used to host at local breweries in the winter months.

“I love hosting. I love doing an event, and I love that community-building aspect of it,” says Weber. “When I was looking for a space, it was important to find something and somewhere that I could still do that. Not only do I have the inside, but I also have this massive, 1,500-square-foot patio.”

Depending on how the shelves were stocked, Rolling Chapters trailer could house approximately 300 books at one time. The new storefront will house nearly 2,000—and that’s just the beginning.

Weber has expanded her inventory from a limited selection of romance, thrillers, fantasy, and general fiction titles to include children’s books, non-fiction, and more.

“I carried very little [historical fiction] in the trailer, but I know a lot of my audience reads it. It’s one I don’t read and don’t know much about, but I’ve had a lot of fun buying for them.”

While the bookstore is a massive expansion from the trailer, Weber still had to be careful about which books she purchased. She thoroughly researched each title, including reading reviews, and consistently chooses books with many high ratings, though that doesn’t mean she won’t special order books for her customers—or that she maintains a strict rating system for herself.

“I’m a vibes person, though I have definitely gotten pickier with my five-star reads over the years,” says Weber. “It’s all about how I feel in the moment at the end of the book.”

Weber plans to keep her existing trade-in program, where readers who bring in gently used books receive a 20% coupon for new purchases, while also expanding her event offerings and providing a space for local authors to celebrate their work.

“I’m excited about the potential in terms of author signings and events. I’m hoping [Rolling Chapters] can become a destination bookstore for people who want to visit.”

Rolling Chapters will celebrate its grand opening on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with shopping and local vendors.
