From Southdale Center’s newly opened luxury wing to Mall of America’s steady influx of globally recognized retailers, the Twin Cities’ major shopping centers seem to be in a state of near-constant evolution—signaling one key message to local shoppers: the suburban mall is far from obsolete. In an era dominated by e-commerce, many of the region’s most iconic retail centers—one approaching 70 years old—continue to reinvent themselves in increasingly unexpected ways. And the momentum shows no sins of slowing.
As a new season of fashion ushers in vibrant color palettes, retro-inspired prints, and a wave of wedding-season style, these noteworthy retail additions across the metro’s top shopping malls are worth adding to your summer shopping itinerary.
Southdale Center
Following the April debut of Tiffany & Co.—the final opening in Southdale’s designer-focused luxury wing—the historic mall continued its momentum with the May 9 arrival of Tommy Bahama, bringing the heritage label’s island-inspired apparel, swimwear, and accessories to the Twin Cities just in time for summer.
Still on the horizon are several highly anticipated additions, including Minnesota’s first Princess Polly location. The Australian retailer has cultivated a devoted Gen Z following through its trend-forward styles, accessible price points, and strong influencer-driven online presence, positioning its Southdale storefront to become a go-to destination for young female shoppers. Just one level above, sportswear giant Lids is also joining the fold, with plans to represent Minnesota’s top hometown sports teams with its signature hats, sports gear, and accessories.

Mall of America
Mall of America opened 25 new stores in 2025 alone—with ultra-popular global retailers like Skims, Mango, and Miniso standing out among the diverse lineup of fresh tenants. This trend continues with the pending opening of a similarly popular mega retailer—Ariat. The California-based global lifestyle brand is the world’s largest equestrian and Western footwear and clothing retailer, carrying everything from traditional English riding boots to trendy, modernized cowboy boots. Mall of America’s soon-to-open location is set to be Ariat’s largest to date, surpassing even its multilevel, 10,000 square-foot Las Vegas flagship store.
Just in time for wedding season, MOA also welcomes a limited-time pop-up location of popular online retailer Lulu’s, which set up shop in the former Club Monaco space. Known for its trendy, affordable women’s occasion wear, the brand is a go-to for everything from weddings, graduation ceremonies, and school dances to beach vacations and sorority rush weekends. The pop-up is expected to remain through fall 2026—leaving plenty of time to secure a homecoming dress or two.

Rosedale Center
Over in Roseville, Rosedale Center continues to refine its retail mix with a steady stream of notable additions over the past year, including luxury jewelry label Kendra Scott and heritage footwear and menswear company Johnston & Murphy. Last month, two additional retailers joined the lineup: Pac Sun, known for its laid-back, trend-driven West Coast aesthetic, and Swarovski, the Austrian crystal house celebrated for its precision-cut jewelry, accessories, and home décor. Later this season, globally popular fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch and Minnesota-based Hammer Made are also set to join the center’s growing roster— bringing a polished mix of contemporary menswear and trend-conscious everyday staples to Roseville shoppers.
Galleria
Galleria’s curated selection of luxury offerings is also in a state of evolution, with the shopping complex welcoming Rivian‘s first Minnesota-based retail space earlier this month. The 3,180-square-foot showroom allows visitors to explore the all-electric SUV brand up-close, offering interactions with display vehicles, charging education stations, and demo drives. The energy will continue early next year with the opening of West Elm, the nationally acclaimed Brooklyn-based contemporary home furnishings retailer known for its trend-forward, modern designs. The store will relocate to Galleria from its former retail space in the Centennial Lakes area, opening next to Pottery Barn.
