PIZZA BRACKET CHALLENGE
Minnesota Monthly’s Pizza Bracket Challenge, presented by Performance Foodservice, is an online bracket-style competition to find the most popular pizza in the Twin Cities and beyond. We compiled a list of pizza restaurants—some new to the dining scene, some old favorites—and put them head-to-head against one another in a weekly showdown starting Monday, September 2, 2024 with 32 pie slinging joints, and ending with one champion of the slices being announced on Monday, October 7.

2024 Pizza Bracket Champion
Started in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1954 by Sam Perrella, Sammy’s Pizza has grown into a household name with locations all across Minnesota. When Sam heard stories from World War II veterans about favorite foods they’d discovered while serving in Italy, he decided to investigate. He spent a short time in Chicago (where he picked up on the idea of square cut slices), then – working with his wife Louise – they combined some traditional family recipes with their own special touches to create the signature Sammy’s Pizza we know and love today!
